After you pass the immigration checkpoint where they ask you lots of questions, remember to hit to the coach ticket office like National Express to get a free London map. It would be useful. Also do have your London address with you or they will NOT let you past the immigration checkpoint. And book your coach from London Stansted Airport to City early as you can get half price tickets from companies like easybus.
Next thing that you should do is to switch off the auto currency converter that you do each time you are in a new country, because you really can't enjoy London if you keep on thinking in terms of SGD. Pounds are just too overpowered compared to SGD, so help yourself and just spend on things that you can't get out of London.
Our coach dropped us off at Baker Street, and the first thing to do is to visit 221B! I was expecting to see the same place as the one in Sherlock by BBC, but obviously the BBC one film it at another place. From there we rented a bicycle to meet our friend at Hippodrome, a casino in Leicester Square. You can either rent a bike for 2 pounds for 24 hours, take bus (1.50-2 pounds), or take the tube (their MRT, costs like 2-3 pounds depending on where you go). Bike rental is the cheapest, but you ride on the road so you have to get used to that. Navigating on a bike can be difficult and we got lost on our first day, draining both time and energy.
As I really wanted to watch some musicals in London, we went to check out Les Miserable to see if we can get standing tickets for 12.50 pounds. These are only sold when everything is fully sold out. Too bad that night wasn't a full house, so we went to eat cupcakes at Hummingbird Bakery, eat at Byron Burgers and a Japanese restaurant called Misato. We then did some shopping along Oxford Street. There are two Primark there, one at each end, and the prices there are seriously legit. Slippers for 1.50 pound, T-Shirts for 2.50 pound, formal shirts for 7 pounds, jeans for 10 pounds, so on and so forth. There is also a sports shop near Tottenham that says it is closing down and everything is on sale, but it has actually been closing down since January.
