Munich

This is about the most boring trips I have ever taken in Europe. Many of my friends like Germany for its history and stuff, but to be honest I was really bored. Oh, and also cause I'm not a big fan of beer, which Germany is really known for.

Munich
In Munich there are only a few attractions that got me interested. There is the English Gardens, one of the world's largest urban parks. It is not built by the Brits, but rather because its informal landscape design was popular in Britain when the gardens was built.

Reminds me of Botanical Gardens

The markets in Munich are also worth a visit, but they are kind of small and pale in comparison with markets in other places like Borough market, etc. The two notable ones are the Victuals Market (10am-6pm) and Schrannenhalle (9am-8pm).

Schrannenhalle

There is a BMW World and Museum if you are into cars. The World is free but the Museum requires you to pay 6 euros. The Olympia park is just beside if you are keen, which is a tourist attraction built during the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Dinner!

From Munich there are several day trips that you can make if you rent a car. The first is the Neuschwanstein castle which was the inspiration of the Disney castle that you should be very familiar by now. It is about a 2-3 hour drive from Munich and really looks magical. Costs 12 euros if you want to enter the rooms. You can combine Neuschwanstein castle and Linderhof palace if you have the time and budget.

On the way back to Munich, we even went to a nearby lake to swim as the weather was too hot. It was refreshing and a bit embarrassing at first cause we are Asians and we only wore underwear, but after a while you just heck it and enjoy.

Hallstatt
Another place you can visit is actually Hallstatt, Austria. I find that a drive from Munich to Hallstatt (2-3 hours) is much more affordable than a day trip from Salzberg, considering that it takes a few more hours compared to Munich-Hallstatt and you have to stopover in Salzberg.
