As the Mannlichen cable car station was just beside the hostel (which is why I picked it in the first place), we started Day 2 with Europe's longest gondola cable ride (54 francs). We took the ride to Mannlichen and actually wanted to hike all the way to Panoramaweg, but unfortunately the route was closed as the path was covered in snow. Seriously, snow in June?

We thought about going to Kleine Scheidegg and then taking a train up to Jungfraujoch (tallest train station in the world, aka where the old James Bond movie was filmed), but it costs about SGD$200 per pax so my Dad decided that it was not worth the ride. Instead, we did a hike to Brandegg where we then took a train back to Grindelwald. If you are very confused, check out the map here https://www.dropbox.com/s/ejb7q5abrbibv3p/karte_sommer.pdf?dl=0
The walk was quite manageable until we actually got lost! We tried to bash through the forest to get near to Eiger to get a better view. and was blocked off by a stream. Took us around 3-4 hours before we found our way out. Nevertheless it was fun and we even got to see deer. Then we headed back to Grindelwald for some well-deserved dinner.
